my repertoire is largely drawn from traditional folk songs from the British Isles with a few instrumental pieces of my own composition and the odd pop classic to round a set off nicely
as well as accompanying my baritone voice on folk songs, I arrange songs as airs and play them instrumentally
in concert I create a relaxed mood and engage the audience with amusing stories |

on the mountain dulcimer I play modal melodies, instrumentals, song accompaniments and traditional airs ~ I play finger-style, which emphasises the delicacy of the instrument

| my acoustic guitar has a rich and full sound ~ my style is often melodic, sometimes medieval but always highly individual with frequent timing variations and occasional jazzy phrases ~ I play exclusively finger-style using a broad palette of techniques to add colour, light and shade to an already distinctive sound ~ hear samples |

| 'folk with a sense of the medieval and a hint of jazz' |

inspired by John Martyn, I have developed my own electro-acoustic guitar sound for traditional material and my own compositions ~ I use digital effects and sampling to create layers of sound with different textures on a solo acoustic instrument ~ hear samples |

| ‘beautiful arrangements of popular traditional airs' |

| I sometimes play with classically-trained violinist, Sylvia Seaton, as the duo Eclipse ~ we perform our own arrangements of traditional material ~ hear samples |
